Robotics Technician

The team has experience launching market defining innovations rooted in deep, unsolved scientific problems. The company is based in Vancouver, Canada.

Sanctuary designs, builds and tests state of the art humanoid robots and the control systems that make them move. The Robotics Technician will be responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of humanoid robotic systems, both in the lab and in commercial deploys. We are seeking a patient, calm, inventive individual with a diversified range of knowledge related to building, servicing and testing complex electro-mechanical systems.

Your Responsibilities

  • Observing and maintaining robots during operation in and out of the lab
  • Day to day mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Fluid draining and hydraulic bleeding
  • Tool design
  • Lab maintenance
  • Tool procurement/installation
  • Assembling complex robotic assemblies, and improving the assembly process
  • Using test equipment, assisting with hydraulics experiments
  • Lapping, polishing and fitting miniature mechanisms under a microscope

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience assembling and maintaining a wide range of electro-mechanical devices
  • Technical degree or diploma either from technical institute or university (ex. biomedical tech, engineering tech, instrumentation tech) - or equivalent industry experience; background in mechanical or electrical engineering desirable but not required
  • Experience with fine manual work
  • Basic understanding of fluid dynamics (Newtonian fluids and hydrostatics)
  • Excellent understanding of mechanisms
  • Understanding of material properties of metals and plastics
  • Proficient in operating hand and power tools, and test equipment
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, technical and analytical ability
  • Extensive repair experience, basic to advanced custom/fabrication experience
  • Adaptability - capable of working in a fast-paced environment, adapt to various situations and prioritize multiple work assignments simultaneously
  • Flexible - open to change & new information and rapidly adapts to changing conditions or unexpected obstacles
  • Detail-oriented - excellent attention to detail with the ability to follow through on assigned tasks
  • Independent - ability to work well under limited supervision
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving - capable of complex reasoning analysis
  • Machining, G-Code, watchmaking, jewellery repair or similar
  • Laser welding/CAD/Casting experience an asset
  • Onshape experience
  • Engineering drawings experience
